Our state of the art, purpose built equestrian livery yard is located in the much sought after village of West Wellow. Adjacent to the River Blackwater, we are situated within a few minutes of Canada Common and the New Forest National Park.

Step into Blackwater and appreciate the luxury. Our stables are enclosed within an American style barn, fitted with Quattro rubber matting, underfloor heated stables, automatic water drinkers, feeders, and hay bars as standard.

The barn is next door to our outdoor international sized arena, incorporating a Martin Collins active track surface, complete with a full range of show jumps.

Blackwater is very excited to complete in August 2021 a new international state of art indoor facility and dressage arena with Andrew Bowen Pro Wax surface.

Our professionally trained staff are on hand to offer a first class service to both horse and rider.

Mark Hallion 

Mark Hallion started his Showjumping career at the age of 12 competing at top level junior show including ‘Leading Junior Show-jumper at the Horse of the Year Show. He progressed from ponies to horses whilst training with leading International rider Freddie Welch. Following two very successful years of competition Mark was a finalist at the Young Riders Championship of Great Britain which led to International success that would equip him for the future. 

Mark opened his first yard in Hampshire at only 18 years of age and almost immediately attracted respected owners and sponsors. This helped push his career financially and professionally establishing him as a respected businessman and horseman.

Next came 2 years of Eventing, competing for Majorie Hance the former president of the Fedaration Equestre Internationale (FEI). Marjorie’s connections enabled Mark access to top trainers such as Lucinda Green and Dick Stilwell giving him invaluable experience in the disciplines of Dressage and Cross Country.

Mark was invited on the ‘Equine Pathway’ under the guidance of Commandant John Ledingham the International Show-jumper, coach and 3 times Derby winner. 

Mark also had a successful breeding programme producing many horses that have gone on to compete at top level over the world. In recent years his horses have won the 4 and 6 year old championships at Hickstead, he has a keen interest in all disciplines and has produced and owned Grand Prix Dressage horses too. 

Mark is currently a regular on the European and World  circuit competing in Spain, Belgium, Holland and Poland, Dubai & America 

Together Claire and Mark aim to produce top quality showjumping horses with attention to detail in the 5 star surroundings that Blackwater offers. Their aim is to give students and clients the opportunity to travel with their horses at home and abroad competing at the highest level under Mark’s expert guidance.
